Here's a great example of what happens when someone takes a regular, safe-for-the-masses-so-they-will-listen-to-it-on-the-radio song and remixes it for the club scene. The song is called "I Don't Know Why" by Moony. The first clip is the original "top 40" radio version. Have a listen (for as long as you can take it):
Now play this second clip, the remix version by Jerome Isma-Ae:
Did you feel the power? Did you sense the epic scale? That's called magic. That's why I love club music. That's why I love what these electronic artists are doing with all of these standardized, shallow, flaccid radio songs. How can you not love a transformation of that magnitude? The original artist has good vocals and a nice delivery but as a whole, the radio version of the song — at least in my opinion — is tame and lethargic... the remix makes you want to actually move and feel alive! Seriously, do you not agree?
Here's another good example, Lady GaGa's "Poker Face." Check out the original:
Now listen to this remix by Jody Den Broeder:
Did that remix make you feel alive? I can't imagine how it could not.
There are hundreds of other great examples of lame songs being transformed into massively epic tracks. I could do this all day. I rest my case.
