Choon Of The Day: Tiesto's Remix Of "I Will Be Here"
Choon Of The Day!
This one is infectious. Seriously. Turn it up and let it play. You will be taken over and energized for the rest of the day. I'm not kidding.

This Is What Happens When You Take A Regular, Crappy Pop Song And Remix It
Here's a great example of what happens when someone takes a regular, safe-for-the-masses-so-they-will-listen-to-it-on-the-radio song and remixes it for the club scene. The song is called "I Don't Know Why" by Moony. The first clip is the original "top 40" radio version. Have a listen (for as long as you can take it):
Now play this second clip, the remix version by Jerome Isma-Ae:
Did you feel the power? Did you sense the epic scale? That's called magic. That's why I love club music. That's why I love what these electronic artists are doing with all of these standardized, shallow, flaccid radio songs. How can you not love a transformation of that magnitude? The original artist has good vocals and a nice delivery but as a whole, the radio version of the song — at least in my opinion — is tame and lethargic... the remix makes you want to actually move and feel alive! Seriously, do you not agree?
Here's another good example, Lady GaGa's "Poker Face." Check out the original:
Now listen to this remix by Jody Den Broeder:
Did that remix make you feel alive? I can't imagine how it could not.
There are hundreds of other great examples of lame songs being transformed into massively epic tracks. I could do this all day. I rest my case.

Atari 2600 Synthcart Mod = 100% Nerd Fun
Okay so apparently there's a home-brew cartridge for the legendary Atari 2600/VCS that turns the console into a (somewhat primitive) synthesizer. That idea alone is pretty awesome but this guy has rigged his VCS to some crazy-ass gear and all I can say is "wow!" Check this out...
Makes you kinda want one, doesn't it?

Quite Possibly The Worst "White Guy Rapper" To Ever Make The Attempt
omfg I will never be able to comprehend just what the hell some people are thinking when they do stuff like this. This guy actually thought he had a real shot at marketing himself — as an average, working class, white rapper — with this terrible, god forsaken video.

The Numark NS7 Is Sick
Wow, I would almost give my left nut for this.Numark just released its brand new NS7, an all-in-one digital DJ system. Real motorized turntables made of metal with actual vinyl platters on top, a 2-channel mixer section, damn-near zero latency (via USB 2), more than 100 LEDs for thorough illumination and way more than I have time to mention here. One very unique feature is something called "Strip Search"... a touch-sensitive strip that lets you quickly zero-in on a particular point in a track, letting you pull a virtual needle drop! As if all that weren't enough, it also comes packed with Serato ITCH software. ITCH is reportedly an awesome interface, organizing song files, providing waveforms, and even analyzing all your tracks to calculate their BPM! Amazing.
The NS7 retails for $1,299 — which may seem steep — until you consider that buying two decent digital decks, a mixer and software would be significantly more expensive. As in the neighborhood of two or three grand. Here you get everything. All you need is a laptop and you're set.
Looks like Numark got it right.
Here's a video of DJ Getdown using the new NS7 (can the boy scratch or what):
